NEW YORK — The World Series went back to its roots this year, playing on home turf for the first time since 1952. And if the Astros can keep up their current pace, they’ll be playing in their third World Series in a row.
A year after the Astros broke a long playoff drought with their first World Series win, they’re set to become only the third team in Major League Baseball history to repeat as champions. It’s been quite a run for the franchise, and the team is only getting better as the years go by.
Corey Seager, who took home the World Series MVP award in 2020, joined Reggie Jackson as the only players to win the trophy with two different teams. He also became the youngest player to ever win the award in a World Series, edging out the record of 20 years established by Reggie Jackson.

But the Dodgers roared back in the eighth inning with a pair of sacrifice flies by Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts, both coming off of errant throws by the Yankees.
