NFL Draft 2025

NFL draft 2025

The NFL draft features 257 players hearing their names called in three days. The first round takes place Thursday night (8 p.m. ET), followed by rounds 2-3 on Friday (7 p.m. ET) and rounds 4-7 on Saturday (noon ET).

Teams have 10 minutes to make their picks, which start at the top of the round. After making their selection, the team’s first runner will radio the player’s name to an NFL Player Personnel representative, who inputs the selection into a database and notifies all clubs of the pick. The runner then walks the card to the head table, where it’s given to Ken Fiore, vice president of player personnel for the NFL. Fiore reviews the player’s name for accuracy, then shares it with the broadcasters and any other league or team representatives so they can announce the pick on TV and radio.

Why they picked him: The Jets want to run the ball, and McMillan fits their scheme well. He’s an elite rusher in college and should be able to contribute right away.

The 49ers have big needs on the defensive front after releasing ends Leonard Floyd and Javon Hargrave and trading linebacker Maliek Collins. Campbell is a strong run defender who can also get to the quarterback. He racked up 117 tackles last season and has the size to play either guard or tackle in the NFL.

What is the Champions League?

Champions League

The Champions League is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of football. The tournament is played by the champions and, in some cases, runners-up of each nation’s national leagues (as well as a few clubs from lower ranked leagues who qualify through association coefficients).

The competition began in 1955 with French club Marseille winning Europe’s first club championship. The event was initially called the European Cup or simply the European Championship, but in 1994 UEFA decided to revamp the tournament and change its name to the Champions League.

From that point on, the Champions League became the premier European club competition. Real Madrid won the inaugural edition and has won the tournament a record 15 times, the most of any team. Other notable winners include Barcelona, Ajax, Manchester United and Liverpool.

In the knockout phase teams fight it out to progress through to the quarter-finals, semi-finals (both two legged games) and a one-off final. This is what really makes the tournament interesting as huge clubs such as Real Madrid or Manchester United can suddenly exit in the last 16 if they have a bad night.

The Champions League trophy is arguably the most iconic piece of sporting silverware in the world. It is kept permanently by the club that wins the tournament and is cherished almost as much as the FIFA World Cup trophy. The last time an English club won the competition was in 1980 when Nottingham Forest beat Bayern Munich in the final at Wembley to win the first of their two titles.

Olympic Ice Hockey – The Miracle on Ice

With NHL players returning to the Olympic Games in 2026 in Milan, the stakes have never been higher for the 12-team tournament. USA coach Mike Sullivan has described the competition as “intense,” and team general manager Bill Guerin has made it clear that there will be no letup in the pursuit of a first gold since 1980.

The Olympic ice hockey game was introduced in 1920 and, until 1956, teams from Canada dominated the event with six straight gold medals. The Soviet Union entered the tournament in 1956, and its superior skill set portended a 36-year reign of dominance. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, teams from Canada and then later Sweden regained their previous positions as the world’s top teams.

The most dramatic moment in Olympic hockey came in the semifinals of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, a game immortalized as the Miracle on Ice. Trailing by a goal with two seconds remaining, the U.S.’ Dave Christian, son of the 1960 Olympic gold medal winner Bill Christian, sent a slap shot in the direction of Soviet goalie Vladimir Tretiak. The puck hit the crossbar, bounced over the goal line and fell into the net. The game ended 4-3 in favor of the Americans, who went on to win their first Olympic hockey gold since 1968.

In the years that followed, a number of changes were made to the tournament, most notably in 1998 in Nagano, where women’s ice hockey was introduced and teams could use NHL players. In Vancouver in 2010, ice surfaces were standardised to NHL dimensions, a choice that was repeated at Beijing in 2022 and scheduled for Milano Cortina in 2026.
